Community groups receive $123,103.69 in Council funding

Dubbo Regional Council (DRC) has provided $123,103.69 to assist 15 community groups and 14 events in delivering benefits and services to the community.

The funding has been delivered through the Financial Assistance Program, the Community Services Fund, the Community Events Fund and the Destination Events Fund.

Dubbo Regional Council Mayor Mathew Dickerson met with representatives from the groups to present them with the funding.

“We are delighted to provide these funds to support the volunteers that work tirelessly for these community groups and support the running of events that help strengthen the cultural and social identity of our region,” Clr Dickerson said.

Fifteen community groups received $74,746.12 through round one of each of the Financial Assistance 2022/2023 program and the Community Service Fund 2022/2023.

Five local events received a share of $10,000 as part of the Community Events Fund, which supports locally organised events that create social connections and improve the wellbeing of residents.

A further nine events received a share of $38,357.57 from the Destination Events Fund, which supports events delivering significant economic benefits to the Dubbo region.

“Providing this funding to major events is estimated to have flow-on effects of up to $3.6 million for our region,” said Manager Regional Events Kim Hague.

“Events contribute greatly to the well-being and social cohesion of communities, and our region can look forward to a dynamic and diverse range of offerings in 2023,” she said.

Applications for the Community Events round one expended all funds, therefore round two will not proceed for this financial year.

Applications for round two of the Financial Assistance Program and the Community Services Fund will open in 2023.
