Community-inspired vision for Logan Village Green

Community-inspired vision for Logan Village Green

A concept plan for the proposed redevelopment of the Logan Village Green.

Logan Village residents would be able to enjoy a coffee while checking out a movie or relax while the kids play in an adventure-styled playground under a revised draft masterplan for the Logan Village Green endorsed by Council for consultation.

The vision includes a future multi-purpose community facility, an outdoor stage and upgraded events space for live music.

Improved signage and street furniture, a visitor information facility and co-ordinated events program would position the area as a regional tourism destination.

In the 2018/19 Budget, Council endorsed $2 million for the Logan Village Implementation Fund over three years to support the planning, detailed design, management and delivery of priority projects identified from the Logan Village Forum.

Council obtained a $500,000 funding grant for the Activation, Embellishment and Upgrade of the Logan Village Green under the Building Better Regions Fund Round 3.

The Master Plan is a key outcome of the Logan Village Forum held in March 2018 and will enable the staged delivery of upgrades to the Logan Village Green in accordance with the master plan vision.

The Logan Village Forum brought together community, key government representatives, industry, business owners and landowners to collaborate on how to unlock the economic and place-making potential for Logan Village.

There were 335 submissions received which were summarised into 29 key actions, 45 initiatives and a number of priority projects that were endorsed by Council.

Logan City Council Director of Strategy and Sustainability, David Hansen, said community consultation would be key in progressing the master plan.

“Key outcomes from the Logan Village Forum identified priority projects to allow Council to deliver on the vision for Logan Village in the short-, medium- and long-term,” he said.

“A number of short-term priority projects will be delivered, including a new playground and activation and embellishment of the Village Green.

“Council will work with the community to gain feedback on the revised plan, while the implementation of medium- and long-term actions will be subject to funding allocations in future budget rounds.”

Mr Hansen said improved amenity through tree planting, new paving, signage and new feature lighting, and improved connectivity through pedestrian and cycle ways to surrounding residential precincts and the Logan River will create a regional destination for Logan.
