Community planning for Craigieburn’s future

Hume residents will have access to improved community facilities as part of plans to revitalise an 11.2-hectare site in the centre of Craigieburn.

Hume Mayor, Councillor Carly Moore, said the site, which is currently home to the Craigieburn Sports Stadium, would be shaped through feedback from the community.

“We know that this precinct is in a key central location and has long been at the heart of Craigieburn’s recreational and social landscape,” Cr Moore said.

“We want residents to be able to continue to use this precinct for a range of purposes but to have access to more up-to-date facilities that will better meet future needs.

“As part of this, residents will be able to have their say on the Craigieburn Sports Stadium and Surrounds Masterplan in coming months.

“The Masterplan will lay out the vision for what the future of this community precinct could look like.

“We are also really looking forward to working with a range of community stakeholders, including the local sporting groups, Craigieburn Men’s Shed and the SES to ensure we are able to create a modern site which supports a variety of future uses.”

Council is working in partnership with urban designer City Collective to engage with residents to identify what improvements can be made to the precinct to best meet the needs of the community.

The Craigieburn Sports Stadium and Surrounds Masterplan will be open for feedback across September and October this year, with updates and information to be available on our website.
