Community Representatives on Emergency Committee

Do you want to be involved in planning and preparing for emergencies at a local level? Council’s Municipal Emergency Management Planning Committee (MEMPC) is seeking expressions of interest for Committee members from the community.

As part of the MEMPC you will help your community to plan for and respond to any emergency that may take place and play a key role in the preparation of the Municipal Emergency Management Plan. The MEMPC is made up of representatives from the emergency services, Council, Lake Mountain Alpine Resort, Department of Family, Fairness and Housing, Red Cross, Victorian Council of Churches, Ausnet Services, AGL Hydro, Goulburn Valley Water, UGFM, WICEN, community houses and local hospitals.

The main role of the MEMPC is to prepare the Municipal Emergency Management Plan which is designed to plan for mitigation, response, recover and relief arrangements within the municipal area of Murrindindi Shire. Community representatives will be appointed for a two year term.

Expressions of Interest will be assessed against the following selection criteria by a panel of Murrindindi Shire Council and MEMPC representatives

  • Demonstrated experience in community engagement/involvement
  • Knowledge of broader emergency management issues in the municipality
  • The ability to access networks and stakeholder groups within the community
  • Experience facilitating/leading community-based committees
