Georges River Council is encouraging more residents to take part in the Humans of Georges River project.
Since May, the project has attracted significant interest, with dozens of local residents already registering to share their stories. People from the Georges River area shared their experiences. They wrote about memories, traditions, and connections to the community.
Humans of Georges River collects stories from everyday people through portraits and interviews. It builds a living record of local life for future generations. These stories will be part of the Council’s Community History Collection. They will also be displayed in a future exhibition.
Georges River Council Mayor Elise Borg said the response highlights the variety of stories in the community. This shows the rich diversity among local residents.
“The stories we’ve received have been heartfelt, inspiring and deeply personal.”
“They show a great view of the people and places. These experiences make Georges River a vibrant and connected community,” Mayor Borg said.
“Whether you’ve lived in Georges River your whole life or just moved here, we want to hear from you. If you run a local business, volunteer, or have a special view to share, please reach out.”
Council is now inviting more submissions. They want the project to reflect all community voices. This includes seniors, young people, local business owners, community volunteers, and people from diverse backgrounds.
Anyone who lives, works or spends time in the Georges River area can apply to participate.
