Community Unrest – Palumpa

The Northern Territory Police Force is investigating a disturbance that occurred in Palumpa yesterday.

Around 11am yesterday, police received reports that two males had presented to the local Palumpa clinic with serious injuries.

One male had suffered lacerations to his ankles, while another had suffered lacerations to his hands.

Both were conveyed out of the community to Royal Darwin Hospital for treatment.

Police attended the clinic and began investigations. A 20-year-old male has since been arrested and initial investigations indicate that up to 12 people were fighting with weapons earlier in the day.

At this stage, it is unknown if the unrest is linked to the recent unrest in the nearby community of Wadeye.
