Community urged to have their say on Mount Louisa Masterplan

Over 100 residents had their say on Townsville City Council’s Mount Louisa Open Space Masterplan at community consultation at Willows Shopping Centre this weekend.

Townsville Mayor Jenny Hill said the initial feedback was positive and Council will continue to seek the community’s ideas over coming weeks.

“The masterplan has been well received by residents and their ideas on how to transform Mount Louisa are definitely going to be considered,” Cr Hill said.

“Some residents suggested solar lights and a looped track under the cave on the Mountain which were really great ideas.

“Council is holding a free community breakfast on Sunday, March 31 at High Vista Park to give residents another chance to chat with Councillors and the Future Cities Team about the project.

“It’s important that we plan the design around what the community wants to give them the best experience when using these new tracks.”

Cr Hill said the Mount Louisa project will become another popular public space for residents and tourists.

“The Mount Louisa project is a key plank of Council’s Townsville 2020 Masterplan – providing a clear vision for the future of our city,” Cr Hill said.

“Council is committed to providing the city with world class outdoor spaces to be used for fitness and tourism.

“Mount Louisa will showcase another stunning view of Townsville – with viewing platforms to show off the coastline and the bushland around the area.”

Community consolations will continue until the end of April.
