Cardinia Shire Council is inviting residents to a Southern Brown Bandicoot Workshop at Garfield Community Garden on Saturday 12 October.
The workshop will feature a talk from Royal Botanic Gardens Southern Brown Bandicoot Outreach Officer Charlotte Fletcher and will focus on how residents can identify and protect the endangered species in their own backyards.
The Southern Brown Bandicoot is found in the southern reaches of Cardinia Shire and is under threat due to predation and land clearing.
The workshop will enable residents to hear from locals who have already successfully created a ‘garden for wildlife’.
There will also be a free indigenous plant give away, as well as various community stalls including a local bee keeper and advice on how to create a wildlife friendly garden.

When: Saturday 12 October, 10.30am–1pm
Where: Garfield Community Gardens, Beswick Street, Garfield
This workshop will follow the opening of the Garfield Community Garden by Cardinia Shire Mayor Cr Graeme Moore at 9.30am. All are welcome to attend.
Morning tea will be provided. Please bring a water bottle and mug.
Parking is available behind Garfield Bowls Club.
