The Tasmanian Government is investing $30 million to expand the Kingston Community Health Centre to meet the growing healthcare needs of the region.
The concept design for Stage 2 of the Kingston Community Health Centre has been released, marking the next step in delivering the expanded facility.
Minister for Health, Mental Health and Wellbeing, Bridget Archer, said the proposed works will expand the facility at the Kingston Park site, creating modern, purpose-built spaces to increase the capacity and scope of healthcare services.
“This will enable the existing Community Health Centre to provide a broader range of services and greater access to high quality community-based healthcare, improving patient outcomes,” Minister Archer said.
“The design includes three precincts to better meet community health needs: a Children, Women and Family Precinct, Oral Health and Audiology Precinct, and an Adult Health Precinct.
“By combining services like maternity, child health, and youth mental health under one roof, the Kingborough Community Health Centre will provide a convenient, accessible, and supportive environment for families.
“Through our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future, we are delivering the health infrastructure our communities need to get care when and where they need it.”
New services like a fixed BreastScreen site and audiology will focus on early detection and intervention, improving long-term health outcomes for the community.
The Children, Women and Family Precinct will provide a child-safe and family-focused environment, with services including antenatal and postnatal care, parenting support, paediatric outpatients, youth services, and child and youth mental health services.
The Adult Health Precinct will provide multi-disciplinary care with a particular focus on the needs of older adults with complex and chronic conditions. Services will include breast screening, renal dialysis, community nursing, physiotherapy, mental health care, and alcohol and drug services.
The concept design has been developed with input from stakeholders, clinical staff and health consumers, and the community is invited to find out more and share their feedback by attending a drop-in session:
– Thursday, 30 July 2026: Kingston Community Health Centre. Drop in between 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm.
– Saturday, 1 August 2026: Kingborough Community Hub. Drop in between 10:00 am and 1:00 pm.
A short online survey is also available to provide feedback until 5:00 pm on Sunday, 2 August 2026.
Following community consultation, the Development Application for the project is expected to be lodged with Kingborough Council in coming weeks. Subject to a final design and the necessary approvals, construction is expected to begin in early 2027.
