The Australian Government condemns in the strongest terms the terrorist attacks this week in Afghanistan on a maternity clinic in Kabul, and a funeral procession in Nangarhar province.
Targeting the safe sanctuary of a hospital, particularly newborn babies, is an act of pure evil, as is attacking bereaved family members carrying out sacred duties during the holy month of Ramadan.
We express our deepest sympathies to the families of the victims. We support the calls from the people and Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, and the international community to bring the perpetrators to justice.
