We’re starting the new year in a big way, with construction set to begin on a range of exciting capital works projects across the Shire including Nillumbik’s first Youth Hub.
Council has awarded the tenders for several major projects including the Nillumbik Youth Hub in Diamond Creek, the new Hurstbridge Community Shed, the Diamond Valley Library outdoor space, roadworks in the Eltham Activity Centre, and infrastructure and landscaping works for the new public toilets at Alistair Knox Park.
Nillumbik Mayor Ben Ramcharan said 2024 would be a big year for Council.
“It will be wonderful to see shovels in the ground for these major projects, which have been many years in the making, and will be a huge benefit to all ages and stages of our community,” Cr Ramcharan said.
“Each of these projects have involved significant consultation and I’d like to thank the community for their feedback which has helped us to refine the final plans.”
Nillumbik’s first youth hub, in Elizabeth Street, Diamond Creek, will provide services and programs for young people aged 12-25.
The project involves refurbishing an existing Council building and will include a large multi-purpose room, program and consulting rooms, office space, upgraded kitchen and an outdoor area. See the final designs at Participate Nillumbik.
The Hurstbridge Community Shed, formerly known as the Hurstbridge Men’s Shed, will get a permanent home of their own with the construction of a purpose built workshop and meeting place on Hurstbridge-Arthurs Creek Road near the Hurstbridge Tennis Club.
