Mayor Stephen Jolly says Golden Square is loved by Burnley residents and the new playground aims to build on that legacy.
“Community has always been at the heart of Golden Square – a place for locals to play, or simply just to catch up,” he said.
“They told us how much the Fairy Tree means to them, and that’s why it will take centre stage in the new design.”
Council would also like to acknowledge the legacy of the late Ron and Shirly Pinnell, whose advocacy helped secure the site for community use after the demolition of Burnley Primary School.
The works will be complete in June pending weather conditions.
