Council has stopped consultation for the proposed naming of the pavilion in Norman Park, Gordonvale.
Following the commencement of consultation on Friday, Council was made aware by the Mulgrave Shire Historical Society that the pavilion is already named.
The structure was opened and named the Richard and Sarah Blackwell Performance Pavilion in 1994.
The project, undertaken by the Friends of Gordonvale, was dedicated to the pioneering family, whose paved the way for the establishment of Gordonvale.
Council was unaware of the existing name and apologises for any inconvenience.
