Containers for Change launches new collection service

  • New pickup on-demand service to support Containers for Change
  • Service to make bulk container returns easier for cafes, restaurants, and bars
  • Accessible via the Containers for Change app

Western Australians can now access Containers for Change Collect – an on-demand service that will increase accessibility to the widely popular container deposit scheme.

Containers for Change has proven hugely successful since it was launched in October 2020, with over 3 billion containers diverted from landfill since then.

As part of the newly launched Collect service, Western Australians can book a collection through the Containers for Change WA app or the Containers for Change website and then select a service provider in their local area.

Collect will make Containers for Change particularly accessible to restaurants, cafes, bars, businesses, and workplaces, where it’s estimated up to 400 million containers go unreturned every year in WA.

As stated by Environment Minister Reece Whitby:

“Access and convenience to Containers for Change has never been easier with the launch of Containers for Change Collect.

“I encourage all Western Australians to utilise the many ways to return their 10 containers that are available – whether it’s via the collection service, by visiting a refund point, or by donating to a local school or charity.”

As stated by WA Return Recycle Renew CEO Tim Cusack:

“We are very proud to officially launch Containers for Change Collect, our new on-demand collection service that allows Western Australians to book a collection for their 10 containers.

“Collect was established in response to a demand to our customers to provide new avenues to return that address any barriers for access and convenience.”
