Lismore’s journey towards a stronger and more flood-resilient future has reached a new milestone, with Lismore City Council appointing Eire Constructions to deliver the landmark Browns Creek Pump Station upgrade.
One of the city’s most significant flood resilience projects, the upgrade will play a critical role in reducing flood impacts, protecting homes and businesses, and supporting Lismore’s long-term recovery following the 2022 floods.
Lismore City Mayor Steve Krieg said the Browns Creek Pump Station upgrade represents far more than a single infrastructure project.
“Browns Creek is a huge project for Lismore – not just in terms of its physical scale, but what it means for our community and our local economy,” Mayor Krieg said.
“It’s about laying the right foundations for our community to look ahead with confidence, as Lismore continues to grow stronger and better prepared.”
The appointment of Eire Constructions follows a robust tender process, to ensure they bring the experience, capability and technical expertise required to deliver a project of this scale and importance.
Construction dates will be confirmed later this year. In the meantime, Eire Constructions will work closely with Council’s Flood Restoration Portfolio to refine the design, plan construction activities and explore opportunities to strengthen the project’s long-term benefits for the community.
This project is supported by the Australian Government’s National Emergency Management Agency through the Northern Rivers Recovery and Resilience Program and is administered by the NSW Reconstruction Authority.
