Contractor sought for new Kingborough CFLC

Roger Jaensch, Minister for Education, Children and Youth

A request for tender has been issued to engage the contractor to build the new Kingborough Child and Family Learning Centre (CFLC).

To be co-located on the Kingston Primary School site, the new centre is part of a $28 million commitment by the Tasmanian Liberal Government to deliver six new CFLCs around the State.

The centres are a single point of contact for children from pregnancy to age five and their families to connect with coordinated, universal, targeted and specialist services, and access programs.

Construction will commence on the Kingborough CFLC in the new year and, subject to the outcome of the tender process, will be completed in late 2023.

Extensive community consultation has been undertaken for all the new CFLCs to help determine the facilities and services each will provide for their local communities.

Works are progressing well on the new East Tamar, Waratah Wynyard and West Ulverstone CFLCs, and a tender to engage a contractor to deliver the new Glenorchy CFLC will also be released in the coming weeks.

Construction of the new Sorell CFLC will get underway in 2023 as part of the redevelopment of Sorell School.

Our Government is committed to supporting our youngest learners, their parents and carers by investing in the health and wellbeing, education and care of Tasmania’s children in their early years.
