Contractors Invited To Bid On Braidwood Road Repairs

The remediation of Braidwood Road is one step closer after the release of a tender package inviting contractors to bid on the popular arterial road.

Braidwood Road begins in Nowra and is a key road used to connect the Shoalhaven with Canberra, via Nerriga.

Beorn Hulme, Natural Disasters Project Manager, said the road was severely damaged in the 2022 natural disasters with temporary measures such as speed reductions and pothole filling in place to keep the road safe.

“The remediation of damaged sections will be welcome news for those who use this road regularly to commute, holiday in the region or travel interstate,” Mr Hulme said.

“Following our due diligence with the tender process, we’ll be keen to see works start in the coming months,” he said.

“This is a multi-million-dollar package funded by the state and federal governments through natural disaster funding.”

Braidwood Road is 56 km long and the total amount of road pavement remediation will be almost 6 km in length. Works will start from the intersection with Albatross Road in Nowra.

Submissions close on 11 April 2024. Reviews of tender submissions will be undertaken by Council with the aim to award contracts before mid-year.

Tender details are on Council’s website and on the NSW Government eTendering site.
