Cessnock City Council is thrilled to launch its new free waste app, allowing residents to stay up to date with bin collection days and learn how to recycle more effectively, all in the palm of their hands.

The Cessnock City Waste App boasts multiple handy features including; a personalised bin calendar with optional bin day reminders, quick guides to Council’s three bin system, forms to request additional bins or notify council of a missed service, up-to-date news and alerts, and much more.

Mayor of Cessnock City, Jay Suvaal, says he looks forward to the roll out of the new app, which enables residents to find waste-related information in a more streamlined, efficient and accessible way.

“Cessnock City Council has developed this waste management app for our residents and ratepayers to help make using our waste services much more straightforward and convenient,” Clr. Suvaal said.

“We’ve had a lot of positive interest in this project and I look forward to seeing the community’s response on the many helpful features of the app.”

Other features of the Cessnock City Waste App include; an A-Z list of materials and how to dispose of them, information about Council’s services and waste facilities including maps and directions, and frequently asked questions.

An electronic waste voucher function is due to launch on the app next month. The feature will be available to property owners with a domestic waste service in the new year on the 15 January. The new digital waste vouchers will minimise lost or forgotten vouchers, and create less physical waste.
