Coriyule Road Drainage Works Underway in Curlewis

Main drain outfall works at Coriyule Road, Curlewis will commence Monday 18 May and conclude Friday 17July, a period of eight weeks.

The City of
Greater Geelong is carrying out construction works, now moving to Stage 2 which
will involve closure of Coriyule Road from Scarborough Road to Newcomb Road to
complete underground drainage works.

Stage 1
works are near completion from the bay outfall along Scarborough Road towards
Coriyule Road.

The Jetty Road growth area has carried increased traffic due to the
construction of roads, drainage and development of the Drysdale Bypass works. This
major drain works along CoriyuleRoad are required as part of the City’s long-term
planning to address development impacts.

During the eight-week road closure, traffic will be diverted along
Portarlington Road and Jetty Road to access the internal residential network.

We expect some traffic impacts during this time however all major
traffic pain should ease from July with the completion of the Drysdale Bypass,
Tivoli Drive and Coriyule Road projects.

While the drainage project will impact
the traffic movement for the community, completing the works during the
COVID-19 restrictions should reduce the overall construction impacts for road
users in the area.

Greater Geelong Mayor Stephanie Asher

The municipality
is growing rapidly and with that, the infrastructure needs to be updated and
improved to enable our community to grow.

The drainage
works are vital in ensuring that we maintain safe and reliable infrastructure
for the safety of our residents.

Cr Anthony Aitken, City Services
portfolio

As part of
long-term planning actions to address development impacts, the road closure of
Coriyule Road will enable draining works to go ahead, and due to COVID-19
restrictions, we hope to complete works with as little disruption as possible.

By completing
the drainage works at Coriyule Road and road works at Tivoli drive
concurrently, we will enable all major traffic disruptions for the community in
Curlewis and Drysdale to ease from July 2020.
