Council adopts Maroondah Housing Strategy: 2022 Refresh

Council formally adopted the Maroondah Housing Strategy: 2022 Refresh on 12 December 2022.

The 2022 refresh follows the first interim review of the Maroondah Housing Strategy 2016. It recognises Council’s work throughout the 2016 strategy period while acknowledging trends and changes in Maroondah’s population and planning for housing.

Like the 2016 strategy, the 2022 refresh seeks to protect and enhance the places we live while making sure there are sufficient housing options throughout the municipality.

Mayor of Maroondah, Councillor Rob Steane, said the refresh will help Council to plan for the future.

“As we plan for the future, it will be important to consider the need for greater housing diversity, increasing the availability of affordable housing and improving the quality of the places in which we live.

“The adoption of this 2022 refresh of the Maroondah Housing Strategy will allow Council to continue to plan for a variety of housing types throughout Maroondah,” Cr Steane said.

“This will help ensure we continue to meet our residents’ needs while responding to trends and changes in our community and enhancing where we live.”

As with the previous 2016 strategy, the 2022 refresh will help ensure sufficient housing in the municipality while improving the environment and protecting neighbourhood character throughout Maroondah.
