Council awards Community Strengthening Grants – Round One

Leeton Shire Council

Council has approved six applications for funding totalling $10,979.95 under Round 1 of the 2021/22 Leeton Shire Council Community Strengthening Grants Program and one application for funding totalling $1,500 under the Quick Response Grant Program.

The recipients approved for Community Strengthening Grant and Quick Response Grant funding were:

• Yanco Town Improvement Committee – $2,000 from the Community Strengthening Grant Program and $1,500 from the Quick Response Grant Program to assist with hosting the Yanco Twilight Market, a community event aimed at fundraising for Yanco and providing an opportunity for social interaction

• Leeton Connect Inc – $1,815 to purchase a smart TV for the promotion of Leeton events, and to purchase banners and promotional material to build recognition of Leeton Connect

• Leeton Harness Racing Club – $2,000 to replace broken wooden seat planks with aluminium seat planks

• Leeton Jumpstart Fund – $1,664.95 to purchase a smart TV to be used for meetings, training and planning sessions

• Rotary Club of Leeton – $1,500 to landscape (includes irrigation, landscaping supplies and plants) the area at the Showground Gate Entry

• Anglican Parish of Leeton – $2,000 to assist with hosting the Leeton Community Christmas Lunch, a free two-course lunch (including gifts) for 80–100 people on Christmas Day.

The allocation of $10,979.95 from the Community Strengthening Grants Program budget leaves $14,020.05 available for Round Two, which will be advertised in March 2023 and close in April 2023. Quick Response Grants and Youth Development Grants are open all year round. There is a total of $1,975 remaining in this budget.
