Council awards contracts of more than $6.9 million

Works will commence on several major projects around Greater Shepparton in the new year, with Greater Shepparton City Council awarding more than $6.9 million in contracts.


The contracts were noted at the December Council Meeting, with contracts for six important projects awarded and works now able to commence.

Council were pleased to award five of the contracts to local companies, including Cleaves Earthmoving and Drainage, Mawson Construction, Preston’s Turf and Garden, and Apex Earthworks. The contracts include construction of the Goulburn Valley Highway Shared Path Stage One, solar installations on several Council facilities and the North Growth Corridor landscape construction.

The works also involve an upgrade to the Katandra Main Road and Labuan Road intersection, Packham Street pavement, kerb, channel and footpath upgrade, and construction of drainage at the Stadium and Munarra Precinct in Shepparton.

The contracts total more than $6.9 million in works for the Greater Shepparton region, with construction set to start in early 2022. Mayor, Cr Kim O’Keeffe said she was pleased to see so many local companies awarded contracts for major works across the municipality.

“Council were extremely pleased to note the awarding of these contracts at the December Council Meeting, allowing the works to be one step closer to commencing,” she said.

“We always like to support the local companies we have in our region and it is fantastic to see these contracts awarded to some of the many great businesses who call Greater Shepparton home.

“These contracts are just some of the major works which will be occurring across our region in the new year and we are excited to see the projects completed.”
