Future improvement to L’Estrange Park Mascot, could be expanded with the possibility of an upgraded basketball court to compliment the recently refurbished playground and planned renovation of the former Mascot Depot.
The existing basketball courts are a well-used community asset, providing opportunities for informal recreation, youth engagement, physical activity and social connection.
With participation in basketball continuing to grow, Council has identified an opportunity to review the condition and functionality of the courts and consider improvements that enhance the user experience and better meet community expectations.
As part of this process, Council will receive a report outlining the current condition of the basketball courts, the estimated costs of potential upgrades, and opportunities to improve accessibility, lighting, court surfaces, line marking and supporting amenities.
The report will also investigate potential funding opportunities, including grants and partnerships, that may assist in delivering the project.
The findings of the report will help inform future planning and investment decisions as Council develops its 2027/28 Capital Works Program.
