Council cuts footpath trading fees to support local traders

Council has reduced and simplified footpath trading fees as part of the 2026-27 Budget, providing cost relief to local traders and supporting more vibrant shopping strips.

Key changes include a 50% reduction in A-frame sign permit fees and a 20% saving in goods on footpath fees. We’ve also simplified the tables and chairs fee structure, replacing multiple tiered fees with a single reduced flat fee.

The new fee structure will be introduced as part of the 2026/2027 renewal period. Renewal invoices will be sent in early August, ahead of the due date 31 August 2026.

These changes respond directly to trader feedback and are designed to make it easier and more affordable for businesses to use outdoor spaces for signage, displays and dining.

We’re committed to supporting local business, strengthening the local economy and creating vibrant, welcoming shopping and dining precincts.
