Council delivers on reconciliation actions

Council has completed or commenced all 84 initiatives detailed in its Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) Innovate 2019-2021, with 85% delivered.

Council’s RAP Innovate 2019-2021 was developed in close consultation with Council’s First Peoples Advisory Committee and was officially endorsed by Council and Reconciliation Australia in July 2019.

A total of 84 actions were outlined in the plan, with 72 now completed or continuously being delivered; the remaining 12 actions have commenced and will form the core of Council’s new RAP.

A report tabled at Council today, outlined the organisation’s progression, noting achievements in improving employment and training opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, as well as increased engagement in cultural celebrations and recognition.

Work has also started to develop a new RAP to guide continued reconciliation efforts and support the national Closing the Gap policies.
