Council extends nomination period for Waste Strategy Working Group

Bega Valley Shire Council is extending the nomination period for their Waste Strategy Community Working Group.

The nomination period is now extended to 11.45pm on Wednesday, 6 September.

Waste Strategy Coordinator Tim Cook said nominations for the recently advertised working group fell slightly short, prompting the one-week extension.

“Please don’t hesitate to put your name forward. If you have something to say about waste management and recycling, then we want to hear from you,” Mr Cook said.

“Experience is not necessary. We’re looking for people with an interest in resource recovery and a reduction in landfill dependency.

“Applying is simple—visit our website, fill out the quick electronic form, and you’re done.

“Diversity is important, which means we are looking to form a working group that represents a broad cross section of the community, including young people aged 15 and above.

“Working group members will only need to meet three times between now and next August.

“Along with input from Council’s Waste Services team, the group will help us shape the initial draft of our updated long-term waste strategy, followed by a call for further community feedback once placed on public exhibition.

“This is a great opportunity to play a vital role in helping us to develop a key long-term strategy.”

People interested in applying can learn more and fill out the nomination form on Council’s website.
