Wagga Wagga City Council is helping to raise awareness of gambling harm during GambleAware Week 2026.
From Monday 19 October to Sunday 25 October, Council will illuminate the Historic Council Chambers and the Coat of Arms located in the Civic Centre forecourt in blue.
Gambling Harm affects 1 in 5 people in NSW, but only a small proportion reach out for help (NSW Government, 2026).
The temporary lighting up in blue is designed to encourage conversations about the impacts of gambling harm and promote awareness of the support services available to individuals, families and communities affected by gambling.
GambleAware Week is an annual NSW initiative that brings communities together to increase awareness of gambling harm, reduce stigma and encourage open conversations about seeking support.
The 2026 campaign theme ‘Now we see it. Let’s talk about it.’ focuses on making an often-hidden issue more visible to help people feel more confident in seeking assistance when they need it.
Gambling harm can have significant impacts on individuals, families and communities, affecting financial wellbeing, relationships, mental health and social connections.
