Would you like to save money on electricity costs and make your home more energy efficient?
Swan Hill Rural City Council has partnered with Lower Murray Water to put together three Home Energy Audit Toolkits. The kits aim to help community members beat the rising cost of electricity and gas and help lower household emissions.
Nicholas Mudge, Environment and Sustainability Officer at Swan Hill Rural City Council is inviting the community to find out more, by attending a free Home Energy Efficiency presentation.
“Please come along to one of our free Home Energy Efficiency presentations on Wednesday, 31 May and gain an insight into the basics of energy, interpreting your energy bill and how to reduce or minimise costs while making your home more energy efficient.
“Our toolkits consist of a range of handy ways to help identify water leaks, inefficient fixtures, high energy use items, costly energy consumption behaviours and building design flaws such as gaps under doors and around windows.
“Toolkits guide users to conduct a full energy audit of their own home and identify ways to reduce those ever-rising household bills,” Mr Mudge said.
Mr Mudge said he was thrilled to be able to offer the toolkits to the community.
“The Home Energy Audit Toolkits are designed to give the community back some control over their household bills, by allowing them to conduct a comprehensive energy audit of their home.
“Each of the items in the toolkits come with very clear and simple instructions, meaning you don’t have to be an expert in energy consumption to complete an audit,” he said.
“While saving money on utilities is something we can all enjoy, the project also promotes energy awareness and sustainability principles.
“There is one toolkit available at each of Council’s library services: Swan Hill Regional Library, Robinvale Learning & Community Hub, and Swan Hill Mobile Outreach Library Vehicle. All library members over the age of 18 will be able to borrow a Home Energy Audit Toolkit for 14 days, with usual options to renew,” Mr Mudge added.
