As federal election signs start to appear across the Region, Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) is reminding candidates to observe the Local Laws related to the placement of election signs.
Before the formal announcement of an election period, election signage is assessed as an advertising device under Subordinate Local Law 1.4 (Installation of Advertising Devices) 2020.
Where the prescribed criteria and the general conditions set out in Subordinate Local Law 1.4 are not able to be met, approval must be sought from Council before erecting the signage.
If permission has not been given, it is deemed to be unlawful and as such, signs may be seized and penalties issued by an authorised person.
