Maitland City Council’s Annual Community Grants program opens today, Monday 12 April 2021.

The program provides opportunities for local non-profit community based organisations and groups to apply for funding to assist with projects in Maitland that meet the needs of the community, foster partnerships, and benefit residents.

Applicants can apply for projects in the following categories: Community Development, Cultural and Local Studies, Leisure and Recreation, and Environment and Sustainability.

Funding is available for up to $5,000. The Annual Community Grant Program requires a match in funding or equivalent in kind support from applications.

Council’s Coordinator Recreation and Community Planning Emily Livens says, ‘This program offers the community an excellent opportunity to receive assistance to deliver a range of projects that connect and benefit all types of members of the Maitland community.

‘Previous initiatives include Hunter Teluga Badi’s Community Environment Day, which involved school group visits to Phoenix Park Farm, pre-school aged fun, fitness programs and the Maitland Indie Festival. I’m looking forward to seeing what comes forward this time around.’

Applications close on Monday 24 May with reviews and outcomes to be announced in June.
