Council staff give life-giving support to Australian Red Cross Lifeblood

City of Whittlesea staff rolled up their sleeves and made 185 donations to Australian Red Cross Lifeblood in 2020 as part of the Council’s Blood Challenge.

These donations alone saved and improved the lives of more than 500 people with cancer, blood disorders, autoimmune conditions, pregnancy complications, premature babies and more.

City of Whittlesea CEO Craig Lloyd said being involved in the life-giving program was extremely rewarding.

“We are proud to support Australian Red Cross Lifeblood,” Mr Lloyd said.

“The need for blood never stops – a donation is needed every 24 seconds in Australia and that is why we will continue to give blood and plasma in 2021.”

Wendy Todd, Account Manager from Australian Red Cross Lifeblood said, “Despite 2020 being a challenging year for many, City of Whittlesea have continued to support Australia’s need for blood and plasma throughout the year.”

“Their donations have saved up to 555 lives. This is a terrific contribution – we are so grateful for their ongoing support of the Bundoora Donor Centre.”

Council is inviting residents to consider joining them as they roll up their sleeves in 2021.

Donor centres remain open, are sanitised and safe. So, if you’re healthy and well, join our Lifeblood Team and book a donation. https://don8blood.com/2QPRMg5
