Residents in Far East Gippsland will soon be able to conduct VicRoads business closer to home, with the Mallacoota Customer Service Centre to become a VicRoads agency on Tuesday, April 16.

The East Gippsland Shire Council facility will be the third council site to operate a VicRoads agency, joining Omeo and Orbost customer service centres.

The agency will offer a number of core functions, which will be increased over time.

Acting Director Community Strategy Wayne Richards said he was pleased council was able to support maintaining a VicRoads presence in Mallacoota.

“It is important for government services to be accessible to our residents. There are some tasks that can only be completed face-to-face,” Mr Richards said.

Providing a VicRoads agency at our Mallacoota Customer Service Centre means residents won’t need to organise a trip to Orbost to sit a Learner’s Permit test, for instance.”

Some of the services available at the Mallacoota VicRoads agency are:

  • Learner Permit and Boat Licence tests and licences
  • Concession – register renewal
  • Re-registration of vessels
  • Clearing a defect notice
  • Work diaries
  • Photos for licenses: firearms, security etc
  • Registration transfer

The VicRoads agency will operate on Tuesdays from 2-4pm and Fridays from 10am to 12 noon.

Bookings are essential and can be made at the Mallacoota Service Centre or by calling council on 5153 9500.
