Council upgrading Irrigation system at Deakin Reserve

Greater Shepparton City Council advises that work to upgrade the irrigation system at Deakin Reserve will commence on Monday 7 October.

Council has liaised with the user groups and the Deakin Reserve Advisory Committee regarding the most appropriate time to schedule these works. The works are expected to run for a period of approximately one month and during this time access to the field will be closed.

During the works there will be no public access to the ground and the boundary fence gates will be locked.

Council’s Manager Parks Sport and Recreation Tim Zak said the improvements to the pipes and sprinklers were crucial to ensure the irrigation of the field is efficient, effective and reliable.

“This will assist our staff ensuring Deakin Reserve continues to be presented as the premier sporting facility in Greater Shepparton,” he said.

“Surrounding areas including the netball courts and playground will not be affected and will still remain accessible. Although the works will provide a temporary disruption to user groups and the general public, it is important that these closures are observed as the ground will be a worksite with significant excavations.
