COVID-19 – Compliance Activity 14 May

Northern Territory Police have issued two infringement notices for failing to abide by the Chief Health Officer (CHO) Directions issued under section 56 of the Public and Environmental Health Act 2011.

On Tuesday 12 May, Environmental Health Officers (EHO) issued an infringement notice to a nail salon business in Alice Springs for contravention of emergency declaration after they were found operating against the CHO directions.

On Wednesday 13 May, a 29-year-old Darwin woman was issued an infringement notice for failing to comply with quarantine requirements after leaving her designated place of quarantine almost immediately after EHO’s advised her of her requirements for quarantine.

A historical infringement notice has been added to the tally. This relates to a 27-year-old man breaching his quarantine in Alice Springs on Saturday 4 April 2020.

NT Police and Environmental Health Officers continue to undertake quarantine compliance checks to ensure people are completing their 14 days quarantine.

9,852 compliance checks have now been completed and 51 fines issued.
