Nillumbik Shire Council is offering local businesses grants of up to $2500 to provide assistance as they face the challenges of the latest COVID-19 restrictions.

The COVID-19 Quick Response Grants for Local Business are one-off funding opportunities to help businesses in Nillumbik adapt and continue operating following the return to Stage 3 restrictions.

Nillumbik Mayor Karen Egan said Council recognised that these were particularly difficult times for local businesses, as well as the broader community.

“Just as businesses were starting see the light at the end of the tunnel following the first lockdown, circumstances have meant a return to Stage 3 restrictions,” Cr Egan said.

“We realise how incredibly hard this is for businesses, with many doing it really tough, and we want to help them in any way we can to get through this ongoing and challenging situation.

“Our businesses are an integral part of the community and I would encourage everyone to once again get behind them and shop local wherever possible.”

The Quick Response Grants are available to assist with activities including digital adaptions such as websites, online shops or booking systems as well as online training, virtual events, delivery services, or small equipment.

Businesses are asked to discuss their ideas with the Economic Development Team before applying.

The grants are in addition to a range of Council initiatives to support local businesses.
