COVID-19 support grants assisting our charities and NGOs

Australians are being supported by dozens of organisations who have received one-off COVID-19 support grants of up to $10,000 from the Marshall Liberal Government – and more community organisations are encouraged to apply.

So far, more than $1.4m in grants – out of a pool of $3.35 million – has been distributed to provide immediate relief to 185 community groups supporting South Australians during the coronavirus pandemic.

Minister for Human Services Michelle Lensink said funding had been granted for a wide range of projects including food relief, personal protection equipment, as well as for items including IT equipment to enable staff and volunteers to operate from home.

“We know many South Australians have been doing it tough throughout COVID – and these grants are aimed to help organisations that support our most vulnerable,” said Minister Lensink.

“These one-off grants are helping organisations continue to operate in changed and challenging circumstances, because we know the coronavirus pandemic has affected the capacity to deliver worthy projects – and they’re helping deliver much-need support across our community.”

Minister Lensink said applications were being assessed on a rolling basis.

“If your organisation needs support to continue providing services, adapt your existing programs or provide new programs and services to meet the needs of vulnerable and disadvantaged South Australians – and I really urge people to apply,” said Minister Lensink.

Funding is prioritised for organisations directly impacted by COVID-19 – including groups that have needed to adapt services to meet increased demand, or have continued providing services while meeting tighter public health requirements.

All applications are assessed against common criteria by a panel of experts and those that score highly are recommended for funding.

Applications opened on 20 April, and close at 3pm on 30 October 2020.
