COVID-19 update – 8 April 2020

The Department of Health has reported 11 new cases of COVID-19 today, bringing the State’s total to 481.

Of these confirmed cases ten are from metropolitan Perth and one is from the Kimberley.

Eight of these cases are related to cruise ships (the Artania, the Ruby Princess, the Costa Luminosa and the Costa Victoria), or overseas travel and one is a close contact of a confirmed case. Two cases are still being investigated.

As with all new confirmed cases, contact tracing is underway.

There are currently 34 confirmed COVID-19 patients in Perth metropolitan hospitals – of those 15 in ICU.

To date, 19,615 Western Australians have tested negative for COVID-19. Of these 3,972 are from regional WA.

WA has 170 recovered cases.
