COVID-19 Update: Latrobe City Council

The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) has confirmed that a Latrobe City Council staff member, from the Moe Early Learning Centre, has tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19).

In the past 10 days, the affected staff member last attended the service on Wednesday 29 July. On that day the staff member was present for three hours, before being advised that they had been in contact with a confirmed coronavirus case. As soon as the staff member became aware, they proactively left the service and where tested.

We understand that this will be concerning for families whose children attend the service and to our staff. Since being advised of the positive test this morning, management has contacted families and staff who access and work at the centre.

Following advice from DHHS the service will be closed to all children and staff from tomorrow, Monday 3 August. The closure will allow appropriate deep cleaning to occur on the recommendation of DHHS. At this stage, it is anticipated that the service will be closed this week.

The closure will also allow time for our service and DHHS to undertake a full risk assessment.

DHHS has advised that all children and staff are requested to remain at home while contact tracing occurs.
