Preventative measures against COVID-19 include:

  • wearing facemasks indoors and outdoors when physical distancing  is not available
  • getting a full COVID-19 vaccination, including a booster shot when it is available to you
  • only attending events or gatherings if they are outside and keeping 1.5 metres from people who are not in your group
  • not attending events or gatherings if you are unwell
  • getting tested for COVID if you are symptomatic or a close contact of a positive case

What is a close contact?

In South Australia, a close contact is considered as:

  • a household member or intimate partner
  • someone who has had close personal interaction with a COVID-19 case during their infectious period
  • a person who has been notified by SA Health that they are a close contact with a COVID-19 case
  • a person who has been at an exposure site during the exposure period for that site.

SA Health advises that Close Personal Interactions are defined as:

  • lasting 15 minutes or longer,
  • where masks are not worn by the COVID-19 case and the other person,
  • are held in close proximity,
  • occur indoors.
