Covid Update: North Island in NZ declared hotspot

NT Government

Strict border controls are in place for all people travelling to the NT from a declared hotspot or public exposure site. The border controls prohibit entry into the NT except for returning residents, or those who have obtained prior approval to enter.

Anyone who has been in the North Island of New Zealand in the past 14 days, with an approved exemption to travel to the NT, and arrives after 5.00pm today, will be required to undertake mandatory supervised quarantine at the Alice Springs or Howard Springs quarantine facilities. Auckland and the Waikato regions are already declared hotspots.

The CHO requires any person who is already in the NT who visited the North Island in the past 14 days to isolate, get tested for COVID-19 and remain in isolation until a negative test is returned.

If you have symptoms, it is important you get tested for COVID-19. Book your COVID-19 test online at here or contact the COVID-19 Hotline on 1800 490 484.

The risk of COVID-19 in our communities cannot be eliminated which is why it is important for everyone to follow all health directions and vaccinations for all those eligible.
