Department of the Chief Minister and Cabinet COVID-19 Update: Three new cases recorded in the NT

The Northern Territory has recorded three new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.
One case is linked to the NT outbreak, bringing the total number of cases to 64:
A female teenager from Katherine who is a contact of a previously reported case. She is unvaccinated and is being transferred to the Centre for National Resilience (CNR) today.
The remaining two cases are not connected to the NT outbreak and were not infectious while in the community:
A female in her 80s who arrived on a flight from London on 30 November. She was in home quarantine and is a household contact of a previously recorded case. She is fully vaccinated and has been transferred to the CNR.
A male in his 30s who arrived on a flight from Sydney on 5 December, who had recently returned from overseas. He is fully vaccinated and has been transferred to the CNR. Contact tracing for the flight has been completed and close contacts are in quarantine.
There are currently 222 active close contacts in the NT. Of these, 219 have been contacted and are isolating, and 201 have returned a negative test.
COVID-19 testing
More than 2,200 COVID-19 tests were processed across the NT yesterday.
It is critical that anyone in the Territory who has symptoms gets tested for COVID-19 immediately to help prevent the spread of the virus.
The Katherine Hospital Pandemic Clinic (Drive-Through Testing Site) is open from 9am until 4:30pm. Bookings are preferred.
The Katherine East Side Clinic is located in the Youth Outreach Building in the Eastside Shop Complex and is open from 9am to 4:30pm. Bookings are preferred.
The Marrara Drive-Through Testing Site in Darwin is open from 10am to 6pm. Bookings are preferred.
COVID-19 testing sites are also open in Alice Springs, Tennant Creek and Nhulunbuy. Testing is also available at NT Health clinics in remote communities.

Chief Health Officer Direction for COVID-19 testing in Katherine East
Due to the occurrence of community transmission of COVID-19 and persistent positive wastewater results in Katherine East, targeted COVID-19 testing stations will be established to help identify undetected cases. Residents in the affected areas must be tested for COVID-19 upon exiting or entering the area. A Chief Health Officer Direction will be established, and people who refuse to get tested may be transferred to the Centre for National Resilience.
It is important all people in the NT check the COVID-19 website regularly to review the list of NT public exposure sites here.
To reduce the risk of COVID-19 spreading in our communities, it is important for everyone to follow all health directions and vaccinations for all those eligible.

· If you have symptoms, stay away from others and get tested for COVID-19
· Wash your hands with soap and water and use hand sanitiser regularly
· Do not go to work if you feel sick
· Maintain a physical distance of 1.5 metres where possible.
