Pat Conaghan Federal Member for Cowper joined Crescent Head Country Club Management and Board of Directors on Tueday morning to celebrate the start of construction for the Club’s long awaited 18-hole Mini Golf Course and Water System upgrades.
Funding for the circa $2 million project was originally secured in 2020, with just over $1.3 million successfully awarded to the initiative as part of the NSW Government’s Building Better Regions Fund.
An additional NSW Government grant of $100,000 was subsequently obtained with the remaining shortfall (circa $550k) provided by the Club.
“It’s fantastic to see this day finally arrive! I remember when this project was initially scoped and given the green light by the Coalition Government back in 2020. The Building Better Regions Fund was designed for projects that supported future economic growth in the regions. With tourism representing a significant portion of our beautiful coastal electorate’s economy, providing even more reasons to visit and stay is a winning formula,” Mr Conaghan said.
“Importantly, this spectacular new facility will provide the groundwork for a new irrigation and wastewater system to be installed on the grounds, which will not only reduce future costs but also create a more ecofriendly club.”
“I can’t wait to see the facility being used by tourists and locals alike, hopefully just in time for the peak tourist season during the September school holidays. I know I’ll be bringing the family here as soon as it opens!”
Crescent Head Country Club Chairperson, Pam Bryant, thanked Mr Conaghan for his continued support.
“On behalf of Crescent Head Country Club and the wider community we thank and congratulate Mr Conaghan for helping ensure the vision of our community club becomes a reality,” Ms Bryant said.
Crescent Head Country Club manager Colan Ryan commented on what the new facility would mean for locals and tourists alike.
“The community support for the project has been awesome. We know that everyone appreciates the unique golf course design, and the future irrigation will provide further enhancements for the Club keeping us sustainable for years to come,” Mr Ryan stated.
With works already well underway, the new Golf Course is scheduled to be completed by mid-September 2023.
