Critical incident declared after fatal crash in Llandilo

A critical incident has been declared following a fatal crash in Sydney’s north west this morning.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of Third and Fifth Avenues, Llandilo, just before 7.20am today (Tuesday 24 May 2022), following reports of a crash, involving a bus and an unmarked NSW Police vehicle.

Officers attached to Nepean Police Area Command attended, along with NSW Ambulance paramedics and Fire and Rescue NSW.

The male bus driver was declared deceased at the scene. He is yet to be formally identified.

The officer – a male sergeant attached to a specialist command – suffered minor injuries. He was taken to Westmead Hospital for treatment. He will also undergo mandatory testing.

A crime scene has been established and is being examined by specialist officers attached to the Crash Investigation Unit.

Local traffic diversions are in place at Third, Fifth, and Sixth avenues and Terrybrook Road. Motorists are advised to avoid the area.

A Critical Incident Investigation Team from Blacktown Police Area Command will now investigate all circumstances surrounding the crash.

That investigation will be subject to independent review and all information will be provided to the Coroner.
