Critical incident launched after fatal crash at Kyalite

A critical incident investigation has been launched after a fatal two-vehicle crash near the NSW-Victoria border this morning.

About 11.20am on Thursday 25 January 2024, emergency services were called to Stony Creek Road, near Yanga Way, at Kyalite near the NSW-Victoria border.

Emergency services arrived at the scene to find a utility and a small truck had collided head-on.

NSW Ambulance paramedics were unable to revive the drivers and sole occupants of both vehicles.

A crime scene was established and is being examined by specialist police.

Officers from Barrier Police District had earlier conducted a search warrant at a house in Goodnight and served a notice on a man.

Police believe that man was one of the drivers involved in the crash.

A critical incident team from Riverina Police District will now investigate all circumstances surrounding the crash.

The investigation will be subject to an independent review, and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.
