CSIRO land settles

Council and the community have now passed a key milestone in securing 3 hectares of conservation parklands at the former CSIRO site in Highett with the settlement and transfer of the land to its new private owner.

As part of the arrangement with CSIRO and the new private owner, 3 hectares of conservation parkland is to be handed to Council within 12 months of the 25 June 2020 settlement/transfer date. We will be working with the new owner of the land to facilitate this outcome for the community.

This long awaited outcome is the result of many years of advocacy by both Council and the community to the Australian Government seeking to protect the important Grassy Woodland within the heart of Highett and the creation of wonderful new community open space for many future generations to enjoy.
