CSIRO measures to protect our people and partners

As the national science agency, at CSIRO we are continuing to support the global response to the novel COVID-19 pandemic.

You can keep up to date with our work on our Coronavirus resources hub.

The health, safety and wellbeing of our people, partners and the community is our top priority. In line with the National Cabinet plan and the easing of restrictions, we have developed a gradual, phased approach to returning to the workplace.

Our current health and safety measures include:

  • CSIRO sites: our sites are only open to CSIRO people and contractors undertaking essential work. Social distancing is being practiced and we have implemented COVID safe measures to protect the health and safety of our people in the workplace.
  • Visitor and education centres: some of our regional visitor centres will reopen in July with COVID safe protocols in place and limitations on gatherings. With restrictions still applying to tours and groups, our education centres remain closed.
  • Hosting and meeting partners: our sites are only open to CSIRO people, all meetings will continue to be held virtually as a first preference. Beginning in July, any essential face-to-face meetings with our people can be conducted off site with COVID safe protocols in place.
  • CSIRO field work: research fieldwork is recommencing, subject to updated risk management assessments and safe working instructions. Fieldwork will not be conducted with at-risk communities or with large groups.

Collaboration is at the heart of everything we do at CSIRO, and we are continuing to work closely with our partners and customers through this difficult time and beyond.

We’re also passionate about sharing innovative science and technology with the community through our many events and locations, so while these take a break, you can subscribe to our news through our newsletter Snapshot, our blog CSIROscope, and our social media channels.
