Cultural Diversity Week at Knox

People from all over the world come to live, work and play in Knox. We are proud of our diverse community who make us who we are and invite everyone to reflect on 21 March – The United Nation’s International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (also known as Harmony Day). The day that introduces Cultural Diversity Week.

Celebrated each year with a different theme in March, we acknowledge what makes each of us special and encourage everyone to join in and ‘Connect Through Culture’ from this Saturday 19 March – Sunday 27 March.

With over 30% of Knox residents born overseas, our community is home to people from over 130 different countries – and is part of why Knox is such a wonderful place to live.

“I feel incredibly proud to work within a community that recognizes and celebrates the power of its diversity and multiculturalism. Having lived experience as an Australian of culturally diverse background, I understand the power of education and the importance of connecting through culture, ” says Knox Cr Sorina Grasso.

So, join us this week for several free events on offer, as we acknowledge and celebrate our rich multiculturalism. From cooking classes to family story time, faith conversations and cultural dance classes – there is something new to learn each day.
