Dangerous driver arrested

A man and woman were arrested after failing to stop for police at Angle Park tonight.

About 6.30pm on Saturday 7 December, police spotted a black Kia sedan hitting the median strip and speeding as it travelled along Grand Junction Road.

Police attempted to stop the car but the driver refused and it continued west on Grand Junction Road.

The Kia was monitored by patrols as it travelled at slow speeds through Mansfield Park and Athol Park with two blown tyres.

The car then came to a stop in the middle of the intersection of Grand Junction and Hanson Road’s where the driver and his passenger were arrested.

The driver, a 27-year-old man from Blair Athol, was charged with driving in a manner dangerous, disobeying a reasonable direction, refusing to submit to an alco-test and refusing to give his name. He was refused police bail and will appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday. His car was impounded and defected, and he was also issued with a twelve month instant loss of licence.

The passenger, a 19-year-old woman from Blair Athol, was charged with hindering police and will be bailed to appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court at later date.
