Dangerous driving charges at Mackay

Police have charged a man following the alleged dangerous operation of a vehicle, pursuit and crash in Mackay yesterday (January 21).

The incident occurred shortly before 5.30am at Maguire Street in Andergrove, where a driver allegedly rammed a police car and fled the scene and ended when the vehicle struck a truck and rolled on Milton Street. https://mypolice.qld.gov.au/news/2020/01/21/dangerous-driving-incident-mackay/

The driver was taken into custody and transported to Mackay Base Hospital for treatment. The truck driver was not physically injured. Two officers sustained minor cuts during the incident.

A 27-year-old man has been charged with serious assault of a police officer, wilful damage of police property, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, possessing property suspected of being the proceeds of an offence, possessing drug utensils, unlawful possession of a weapon, evading police, unlicenced driving and two charges of possessing dangerous drugs.

The man will appear in Mackay Magistrates Court today.
