Dangerous driving charges in Petrie, QLD

Police have charged four boys and a girl with unlawful use of a motor vehicle after an alleged stolen vehicle collided with a number of vehicles in Petrie this afternoon.

It will be alleged a Grand Cherokee Jeep was sighted by an off-duty police officer on Linkfield Road at Brendale around 2pm today. The vehicle had been stolen from a Wooloowin address sometime on Sunday and had a smashed windscreen.

Police were called, and an unmarked police vehicle followed the car for a short time before it turned north on Gympie Road at Carseldine. As the vehicle neared the Petrie Roundabout it stopped in a line of traffic and officers approached the vehicle.

The driver has then tried to drive between the two lanes of stopped traffic, hitting approximately 15 vehicles before coming to a stop. Five youths were arrested in the car.

A 17-year-old Morayfield boy has been charged with one count each of dangerous operation of a vehicle, burglary, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and two counts of receiving tainted property.

Two 14-year-old boys from Redcliffe and Caboolture have been charged with one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, burglary and receiving tainted property.

A 14-year-old Rothwell boy has been charged with one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, possess drug utensil and unlawful possession of suspected stolen property.

A 12-year-old girl has been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
